Mission:
The primary mission of NSL is to promote awareness of the importance of submarines to U.S. national security.
Our regional PACSW Chapter supports this mission and furthers submarine community camaraderie through activities that include:
- Monthly NSL-PACSW Chapter Luncheons with distinguished guest speakers
- Fleet sponsorship at the NSL-PACSW Chapter Luncheons
- Sponsorship of the COMSUBPAC Sailors of the Year (SOY) at the annual award luncheon
- Involvement in local submarine events, including:
– San Diego Submarine Birthday Balls
– Old Timers Luncheons
– COMSUBPAC SOY Awards Luncheons
– Tolling of the Boats and Memorial Day ceremonies
– Warrior Socials with active duty, submarine veterans and NSL-PACSW members - Awarding of NSL memberships to the Wardroom and Chiefs Quarters of the most recent Battle Efficiency “E” boat for their performance
- Research and writing by chapter members for the extensive “Century of Submarines in San Diego” journal published by the Maritime Museum of San Diego
- Presentation of NSL’s RADM Fredrick B. “Fearless Freddy” Warder Outstanding Achievement Awards at regional university NROTC units
- Contributing to efforts by Submarine Veterans to repair the Liberty Station “52 Boat” Submarine Memorial
- Involvement with the San Diego Military Advisory Council (SDMAC)
- Community Outreach
