Our distinguished guest speaker, who will speak to us on the topic of “China’s Submarine Force – Are They the Sleeping Giant?” at the next chapter luncheon meeting and professional forum, will be:
Commander Ray Ferbrache

CDR Ferbrache is a 1960 graduate of the California Maritime Academy, earning a Bachelor Degree in Nautical Engineering and a US Coast Guard License (3rd Assistant Engineer, Steam and Diesel, Any Horsepower / Any Ocean). He served a year in the Merchant Marine before being called to active duty in the Navy. His initial service included 2 years on a destroyer escort, followed by assignment to Submarine School. He qualified in submarines on USS CAIMAN (SS-323) and served as Navigator/Operations Officer on USS CARBONERO (SS-337), Executive Officer on USS TANG (SS-563), Commanding Officer of USS TRINGA (ASR-16) and Executive Officer of USS EMORY S. LAND (AS-39). Staff duties were in the Intelligence field. His last naval service was at Operational Test and Evaluation Force as Test Director for the Tomahawk Missile Block I, the Mk 48 ADCAP torpedo and the CCS MK1 Combat Fire Control System. He and his wife Patricia Ann have 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
